Hire the Offbeat Empire to speak at your next event #Events#speaking engagements February 29 | Ariel Meadow Stallings offbeatbride One of my goals for this next year is to get off the internet a bit (…I KNOW!) and actually book some speaking engagements at conferences, workshops, and other tech, media, or wedding industry events. I can talk about stuff like: How to establish non-irritating web advertising models Branding the fuck out of yourself and your business Why marketing to niches is awesome Not being an asshole: blogging etiquette Ending co-rumination: community management and development Shifting trends in digital publishing Facetime: managing remote staff Learning when to shut the laptop: establishing personal boundaries in self employment Just about anything else I've written about on this here Offbeat Empire blorg. A couple of my past speaking engagements include: Geek Girl Con 2011: Rocking Your Geek Niche BlogHer Business 2008: Represented Microsoft on "Successful Social Media Outreach" panel Blogher 2007: "Book to Blog and Back Again" panelist SXSWi 2007: Fray Cafe featured storyteller Don't let the pink hair fool you; before I broke out into self-employed offbeatland, I spent almost 15 years working in corporate marketing for industry biggies like Microsoft, Amazon, and the Seattle Times. I eat, sleep, and breathe web business development all day long, and I bring this enthusiasm to all my conversations and speaking engagements. And yeah, when I say enthusiasm, I mean it. Anyone who's talked to me for more than 60 seconds knows that I'm all about waving arms and raised eyebrows and hopping up and down, even when I'm talking about dry stuff like SEO, ROI, and CMSs. Are you ever sick of it, but loathe to change it bc it is your personal brand? I've actually changed color several times over the years (purple, maroon), although I certainly don't expect anyone track my hair styles. That said, I don't spend much time worrying about personal branding any more. I gave it up a few years ago for reasons discussed in this post. At this point, the majority of Offbeat Empire site readers don't even know what I look like (which is awesome). I'm happy to leave that kind of personal branding schtick to that other pink-haired wedding blogger. I AB SO FREAKIN LUTELY agree with you soooo much on you speaking. I know u didn't see it, but i was having one of those "hands on chin" moments where i was doing nothing but sucking in information that u were spewing. SERIOUSLY I even felt geeky about the stuff by the time u spoke about the analytics stuff. I was smitten, seriously! If you come ANYWHERE NEAR TEXAS, I"m signed up baby. (within reason, hopefully time allotted, travel, availability,) ANYWAYS, I'm totally for that. You are AMAZING and very CLEAR and I learned SO MUCH just by meeting yall and listening. !!!!!!!!! I don't have a company big enough (yet) to hire you but please keep posting your speaking schedule for any events that are open to the public. I'll make the trip to see you when you make it out to the Midwest or east coast. Comments are closed.
