Why we're retiring the term "Offbeat Lite"

Over the years, much digital ink has been spilled on the phrase "Offbeat Lite," the term I jokingly started using back in 2007. Over the years, the phrase has slowly lost its editorial value as a taxonomical term… to the point where we're now officially retiring it.

How we do stock photography

Can you run-down how you guys handle posting your stock photos for each site? I know you use Creative Commons most of the time, but what are your criteria for picking photos? Do you maintain a database of photos that you think might work with future articles, just to cut down on time, or do you search and hope for the best?

Comparing how posts perform with different readerships

We have some general guidelines about what fits on each Offbeat Empire blog, but there's definitely some overlap and wiggle room. Newlywed stuff generally goes on Home & Life (but sometimes goes on Bride), reproductive health generally goes on Families (but sometimes goes on Home & Life), and child-free stuff generally goes on Families (even though it's very much about NOT having children). Anything meta (business, community, tech) goes here on Offbeat Empire, but sometimes we also post on the sites related to the meta-issue.

But sometimes there are some posts that stump us…
